What’s wrong with KJo’s Koochie Koochie…?

Ever wondered what’s been happening to the ambitious animation project based on KJo’s 1998 blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai? Well, the Tarun Mansukhani and Vishal Sonawane directed Koochie Koochie Hota Hai has been lying on the shelf for quite some time now.

Mumbai Mirror finds out why…A source close to the film said, “Koochie Koochie Hota Hai should have released in 2009. Then they released the promo of the film with My Name is Khan in February 2010. It was then expected to release in 2010.Later they said that they would release it in 2011.

The latest is that the film will not see the light of day for the next twelve months at least.”Explaining the inordinate delay, our source revealed, “Karan and Tarun started going slow on the film after the Saif-Kareena Yash Raj animation film Roadside Romeo bit the dust.

The market for animation films in India has still not picked up, it’s good only on the mythological front.A buzz around the film will have to be created so that there is scope for this animated version, and only then, Karan and Tarun will go ahead with the film.”“Also, the dubbing of the film is yet to be completed. The pending animation work will take around three days of work,” he added.Does the film have buyers? “Well, that’s not a problem. The buyer is in place. But Karan may not reveal that name so early,” explained the source. While Karan remained unavailable for comment, Tarun simply said, “We are working on the animation and the post-production.”
